I understand the motive of translating Latin poets (few people speak Latin these days) and I applaud you. But what is the point of translating S. other than the thrill of personal challenge? The translation will be in every way inferior to the original, just as you say, whereas Hamlet is written in the modern lingus franca. The Russians that speak English and the Russians reading your translation will be the same audience. Helping to understand elizabethan English should be quite sufficient. Do you think it is worth it?
