I wonder what do you expect, theodicy? Ok, here is your theodicy. You start from the assumptions that a better world is possible and that omnipotence can result in the creation of this better world. Neither one of these assumptions is evident. This might be the best possible world in which WE can exist. Back to your tsunami example, what do you want Him to do? To stop plate tectonics in order to make one of His many creatures happier? Plate tectonics is the only way to cool a planet without massive volcanism. Tsunamis did and will happen in this region; this one was a minor one. Thousands have died, but as a result there will be less coastal development, and the next time the tsunami strikes, in not so distant future, tens of millions lives will be spared. The reason that these regions are densely populated is uncontrolled, exponential growth of population there. Was it He who bestowed Western medicine on people living patriarchal lives? Evil is the consequence of the existence of one dimension and arrow of time, the inability to anticipate the outcome of actions. A universe without time or more dimensions of time is possible. A universe without the arrow of time is also possible. The first and the third possibilities are incompatible with Life, the second one is incompatible with predictability. What do you want the loving omnipotence to choose?
